Join the group!
We are always interested in recruiting new members! See below for specific details, and don't hesitate to reach out to Pavitra if you need additional information.
PhD students:
Most students interested in our group will likely apply via the Ecology & Evolution PhD program in the Biological Sciences Division. Pavitra is also a trainer for the PhD program of the Committee on Evolutionary Biology. Advising students in other programs at UChicago is usually a possibility, but worth chatting about in more detail.
Funding for students comes from a variety of sources, including fellowships (e.g. the NSF GRFP), training grants, or internal funds. PhD students are always guaranteed funding for at least 5 years, regardless of the source. More information on PhD programs in the Biological Sciences Division at UChicago, including details on how to apply, is available here.
Postdocs:
Potential postdocs are encouraged to reach out to Pavitra to discuss opportunities. If there are specific positions available, they will be posted here. Generally, postdocs will be working on independent projects within the broad outlines of the group's research interests.
Funding is available via fellowships (Chicago Fellows program, NSF PRFB) or grants to the lab. If you’re interested in doing a postdoc, get in touch with Pavitra to discuss co-writing a fellowship or a grant!
Undergrads:
Get in touch with Pavitra to discuss potential opportunities! Because our work is highly theory-based, any background in math/stats/programming is a plus, although not necessarily a requirement.
